Comment: Thoroughly enjoyed the 50th reunion. Nancy (Jones) and I got married in 1971 and finished college together. We started in Richland, WA, Alaska in the 1980's, and eventually Anacortes. My favorite engineering job was North Slope oil production and also my last 10 years in Washington oil refineries.  Nancy died in 2014 after 43 wonderful years together.

Comment: Greetings fellow 69'ers. This is Debbie Cooper. Not the esteemed classmate Debbie Cooper, a genuine actress, but the other one. Though I did fall for the bright lights of the stage once, joining the Shoreline Community College cast of "Stop the World, I want to get off", it did not go well.  When acute stage fright struck, I "got off" the stage before the curtain fell.  I moved on to Central Washington University, steering clear of the drama department, to garner a degree in graphic design. Working for the architectural firm that designed the Seattle Aquarium I drew lots of fish. Later I illustrated four books. My favorites:  People of Salmon and Cedar by Ron Hirschi and Lootas Little Wave Eater by Clare Hodgson Meeker. Following a domestic path, I married and had two sons. They are the joy of my life. Wanting to coordinate their school hours with a job, I found employment with the Edmonds School District as an Education Assistant. For twenty years I helped struggling readers make sense of the written word, supervised the lunchroom chaos and recess mayhem. I'm currently writing my memoirs, Tattle Tales form the Recess Teacher, with cartoons. Now retired, my second husband and I take out little trailer and kayaks out into nature whenever we can.

Many of you remember me always tinkering with electronic gadgets in high school. Upped that a notch with a rewarding career in hardware/software engineering developing fiber optic, wireless and networking products for some of today and yesterday's DoD and commercial giants. It all really started with the Traf-O-Data microcomputer I built with Allen and Gates at the UW, doing more fun stuff with high-tech toys along the way.

Now retired in Florida it's just all the things that my soul mate, the sun, beaches and golf courses can throw at me. I miss the mountains though!

Comment:   Well here is 50 years, it’s hard to believe and I certainly don’t feel that old. It’s been one of those bucket list things to live long enough to make it to the 50th and it has been a shock that I actually made it. I’m still in contact with a few close friends from school and that has been wonderful to have that long lasting friendship.

I’ve been blessed with a wonderful family & friends and only by several miracles I’m still here and enjoying life to the fullest. I’ve traveled more than I could have ever imagined and despite health issues and potentially crippling injuries I’m still able to work construction with my son, play with my grandchildren and golf.

Hope to see you at the 50th.

Comment: So hard to believe its been 50 years.  Its great to see everyone's current updates.  Hope I will be in town to attend the reunion, but I may still be out of town.  If I miss you at the reunion, don't hesitate to send me a message afterwards to tell me all I missed. Best wishes to all...

Richard Grotjahn

Children: 2
Occupation: University Professor, Farmer, Dad
Comment: 2019: Update! My daughters just received BS degrees and are pondering grad schools. The farm has an increasing number of things needing attention, but at least the livestock are gone (except chickens). And my academic career will soon improve as I shall retire this year. As a bucket list idea I ran a marathon in 2011. After, my doc said 'whatever it is, keep doing it.' So that started my running career. To go with my farm career, my academic career, and my dad career. Turns out, I have had some success running various distances. Only ran 7 marathons so far, most of which have been BQs; ran Boston twice. Life's got plenty of challenges, but overall it has been good.

2009: This site brings back a lot of memories. A lot has happened in 40 years. Lived in Florida, Colorado, Australia, but mostly California. The past 28 years an atmospheric science Professor at UCDavis. The past 15 years a farmer. The past 12 years a father. 3 'careers' at once -- not sure if I'm doing any of them well. In my spare time... ha! I don't have any :-) .

Comment: For those of you who remember me, and my mediocre academics, I actually made it eventually to the UW and got a Business degree.  And for those who also remember my first love (Hint: anything auto-related), it should come as no surprise that I spent my career in that industry, and retired a little over a year ago from Chrysler Corp.  A bit sooner than ideal, but it was a good offer and gives us opportunites to do other things, including travel; after all, we're not getting any younger!

We've spent most of our lives here in the northwest, and have 2 great children (22 and the other just turned 25).

Unfortunately, we're not able to make the reunion due to other plans.  But I've enjoyed this website immensely and "seeing" all of you!
